Believing Through The Fear

When we adopt children who have a trauma history we have high hopes. We think that it may only be a few months before they acclimate to the family and start to be more calm. We hope that love and Jesus and therapists and even our own will for them to be better may just do the trick. But, as time progresses and behaviors become more aggressive, not less, or, as their stages of life progress and hormones do a number on them, we start to feel afraid.

Afraid that they will never be okay. Afraid that they will end up in jail or disappear as a runaway, never to be seen again.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

There are so many verses in the Bible about fear.

Hear are a few-
Perfect love casts out all fear- 1 John 4:18

You came near when I called to you and said, "Do not fear." Lamentations 3:57

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13

𝗕𝘂𝘁, 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱, 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳.

Do we believe that He has their best interests at heart? Do we believe He loves them more than we do? Do we believe they don't really belong to us but to HIM?

Because if we believe, then we can let go of fear. And if we let go of fear, that is when God is free to do His best work--not only in their lives, but in ours.

So today my friends, believe. Believe He is bigger. Believe He loves them more. And fear not.
